–2009 conference realignments shake things up WNC
1 December 2007RALEIGH - Realignment in 2009 will really shake things up in Western North Carolina if everything stays the same as the NCHSAA has proposed. A lot of mountain teams will be moving to split conferences, five teams will be changing classifications
The biggest change in Buncombe County will be at Reynolds and Roberson.

–Brevard’s Essenberg is second coach to resign this year
18 November 2007BREVARD - November 17, 2007 - Coach Dan Essenberg of Brevard is resigning after 30 years in the school system. He has a 146-72-1 overall record, including 107-37 (75%) in 11 seasons at Brevard. He also coached at Rosman for six years, compiling a 39-35-1 record.

ASHEVILLE - November 16, 2007 - The second round of the NCHSAA playoffs were not kind to teams in Western North Carolina and other mountain areas on Friday night. Eight of the 13 regional teams went down to defeat. The winners were East Burke (4-AA), Watauga (4-A), Roberson (3-AA), Asheville (3-A) and Pisgah (2-AA).

Christ School used five pins and two forfeits to gain the win. Brevard had two pins, two forfeits and one major decision in the loss.
