–Veritas’ Baciu wins National award
23 May 2008The National Christian Schools Athletic Association announced today that Catalin Baciu, the 7′2" senior center from Veritas Christian Academy in Fletcher, NC has been named the Small Schools Division National Player of the Year for the 2007/08 season.
The Clemson bound native of Romania averaged 23.6 points and 14.9 rebounds and 7.2 blocked shots per game in leading Veritas Christian to a 6th place finish in the 2008 National Association of Christian Athletes National Championship Tournament.
This marks the second time in three years that Veritas Christian Academy head coach, John Jordan has had a player win a National Player of the Year Award. In 2006 Jordan was head coach at Statesville Christian School and current Memphis Tiger, Doneal Mack won the same award.
Memphis signee, Tyreke Evans of American Christian in Aston PA. won the award for the large school division.
