–ACA makes it to round 3 in 2-A NCISAA playoffs
14 May 2008CHARLOTTE - Starting Pitcher Matt Justice pitched four shut out innings for ACA, then came back in the 7th with a one run lead and one inherited runner to earn the save for ACA as the Lions got by #5 Metrolina Christian in a 4-3 victory.
Center fielder Michael Moore had a solo home run in the top of the first to give ACA a 1-0 lead and third baseman Adam Coneys scored in the top of the 4th on a Metrolina error.
Metrolina scored 3 in the bottom of the 5th inning to take the lead, but ACA promptly came back with two more runs in the top of the 6th with Moore leading off with a walk. ACA coach Filipek called for a hit & run and catcher John Berger hit a single. An error in the outfield allowed Moore to score and Berger to reach second. Coneys laid down a sacrifice bunt moving Berger to third. Tim Kynast came off the bench to hit an RBI single for the go-ahead run.
The Lions face #1 High Point Christian (21-7) in Harrells at 10:00 on Friday.
