–ACA wins in first round of NCISAA 2-A baseball playoffs
13 May 2008HARRELLS, NC - Matt Justice had six strikeouts and gave up only one hit through 3.1 innings to lead the Lions to a first round playoff win over Gaston Christian, 11-1. Adam Coneys pitched 1.2 middle relief innings, with one strikeout and good infield defense behind him.
ACA’s 11 runs were spread over 6 starters and 3 sub players. In their biggest inning, the third, John Berger lead off by getting hit by Gaston’s Josh Brooks and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Adam Coneys knocked him in with a single up the middle. Then with 2 outs, Brad Guengerich walked, and Jared Robinson had a two run double, reaching 3rd on an error. Jared then stole home to score ACA’s fourth run of the inning.
In the bottom of the 5th, ACA added to their lead with doubles by Jared Robinson and Matt Justice, and singles by Stephen Carlson, Michael Moore, and John Berger, all with two outs.
The Lions will play #4 Metrolina Christian Academy (18-5) at noon on Tuesday.
