–WNC football players pick schools
5 February 2008WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA - Two Western North Carolina football players have decided where they will play during the next football season.
Jonathan Shively, who played quarterback and defensive back, garnering All-Conference honors in the Smoky Mt Conference while at Hayesvillle, has decided to attend Appalachian State as an invited walk-on. He passed for 1,887 yards, throwing for 17 touchdowns.
Shrine Bowl Representative, Ryan Stiles, a two time Smoky Mt. Conference Lineman of the Year, from Murphy, has decided to play at UNC Pembrooke, joining Western Carolina recruit, Josh Gossett and Marshall recruit, Jamie Hatten as the third WNC Shrine Bowler to make his future plans known.
