–West Henderson’s Ivens repeats as 2-A/1-A diving champ
3 February 2008RALEIGH - February 2, 2008 - Josh Ivens, a senior from West Henderson, got his second goal medal in as many years, repeating as the 2/A/1-A 1-meter springboard diving champion on Friday at the Pullen Aquatic Center in Raleigh.
With a score of 295 points, he narrowly defeated fellow Falcon diver, Josh Nelson, who was a close second with 275 points, giving him the silver medal.
Last year Ivens won with a 307.95 as the only diver from the Mills River school.
The boys were not the only ones that were wearing medals on Friday.
West Henderson’s Kayla Boyd also won the silver medal, finishing only 10 points behind two-time state champion, Sarah Wyman of Perquimans. Boyd finished with 267 points and Wyman had 277.
Boyd almost pulled off the upset of the day in the girls’ portion, finishing with 267 points, just 10 points back of two-time state champion Sarah Wyman of Perquimans.
