–North Henderson’s McMinn reaches the 2,000 point summit

31 January 2008

BREVARD - January 30, 2007 - Just four points away.  Barring injury, everyone knew that Morgan McMinn would crest the 2,000 point plateau during North Henderson’s game with Brevard on Wednesday night.  They just didn’t know when it would happen.

They really didn’t have to wait long because McMinn tossed in a three-pointer with 3:35 left to play in the first quarter, giving the Clemson bound senior five points in the game. The game was stopped and the game ball was given to McMinn.

She finished the night with 28 points, leading North Hendersonville to a 68-39 win over the Lady Blue Devils.  She now holds the school record in points, rebounds and blocked shots.

McMinn is the fifth Western North Carolina girl who has passed the 2,000 point plateau. Leading the pack is North Carolina freshman, Cetera DeGraffenreid (3,081) from Smoky Mountain.  Ashton Barton (2,581) of Rosman is in second, Janice Connor (2,346) of Edneyville is third, Rashanda McCants (2,285) of Asheville is fourth and Laura Cottrell (2,088) of Hayesville is fifth.
