Bearcats head coach announced Whiteside’s intentions on Monday, saying, "Dominique committed to play football at Division I, Coastal Carolina today.  His family’s proud, his friends are proud, and our whole program is proud of him.

This past year, Whiteside, who played linebacker and defensive end led Hendersonville’s defense this past year with 173 tackles and seven sacks.

"I know that I will be going to a school that I know I want to be a part of. That was the main thing," Whiteside, a 6-3, 245-pound senior, said.

The second week of January, he made an official visit to the 8,000 student, Conway, S.C. campus, which is just 15 minutes from Myrtle Beach.

"It was just a nice environment, and I got along very well with the coaching staff and the players. It all just felt right to me," Whiteside said.
