–Spencer scores four times for rockets as they dismantle North Davidson

10 November 2007

REYNOLDS - November 9, 2007 - The Reynolds Rockets spent the first half of their game with North Davidson scoring touchdowns.  Darius Spencer had three of his four scores in the first half, while Alexander Wall crossed the goal line once and hit one of his receivers for another score.  They demoralized the Knights with their offense and the defense held their own as the Rockets squashed all hope of a North Davidson victory with a 40-7 win.

Wall, who had a leg injury earlier in the year and recently returned, scored just 57 seconds into the game on a 38 yard run and finished the first half off with a 74 yard pass play to Shawn Tressler, giving the Rockets a 33-7 halftime lead.

Spencer, on the other hand, got his first score after a failed fake punt attempt by the Knights was foiled by the defense and a couple of plays later, he scored on a 34-yarder.

He had three others, with two in the first half (3 and 15 yards) and the other just as the the second stanza was to begin.

It was on Reynolds first series of the second half.  After rushing for 61 yards in the first half, Spencer started the second half racing for a 45 yard touchdown the first time he touched the ball.  That also signaled the time to replace the starters with younger players who might not get the playing time the rest of the way.

Spencer finished the night with 106 yards on 12 carries, an 8.83 average.

Wall completed 6 of his 16 passes for 237 yards.

#5 Reynolds (8-3) travels to Pembrooke, NC next week to #4 Purnell Swett.
