–Asheville School girls win CAA X-Country meet
21 October 2007SWNNANOA - October 20, 2007 - The Lady Blues of Asheville School claimed the CAA X-Country title Saturday on the campus of Asheville Christian Academy. With four runners in the top seven, led by Jessica Goodman who ran 2nd, the Lady Blues edged out host, ACA, who had five runners in the top 15. Whitney Thornburg led the way for the Lady Lions, finishing third.
Lucy Lynch, from Spartanburg Day, went out in a blistering pace, setting a new course record (20:54) as the only runner who was under 21 minutes.
The top five finishers for Asheville School were Goodman (21:08) in 2nd, Amanda Anderson (21:33) in 5th, Melanie Haas (21:42) in 6th, Ashley Dickie (21:48) in 7th and Anna Ranson (23:59) who was 21st.
For runner-up, ACA, Thornburg (21:17) was 3rd, Mandi Struble (22:06) was 8th, Natalie Newberry (23:05) was 13th, sarah Baker (23:06) was 14th and Kelly Barnett (23:16) was 15th.
Carolina Day finished 3rd, with Hannah Goss (22:44) and Anzhela Bozeman (22:45) placing in 9th and 10th respectively. Rounding out the top five are Melissa Garrett (23:02) who was 12th, Rachel Newcomb (23:33)came in 17th and Lauren Cary (25:05) was 24th.
