–Lady Cougars gets 19th win of season over Asheville school

ASHEVILLE - October 17, 2007 - The Asheville Lady Cougars won their 19th game of the season on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Asheville School, 6-0.  Leah Downey scored two goals for Asheville, who are tied for the conference lead at 12-1 with Mt Tabor.  They will play on Monday at Mt Tabor to decide the regular season conference champion.

Downey scored both of her goals in the first half to give the Lady Cougars a 2-0 lead at the half.  Elizabeth Gaston got the assist on the first goal and Kelly Olesiuk got the assist on the second.

Mallory Silver was the first to score in the second half, with an assist from Hannah Dave.  Olesiuk got her second assist when she passed the ball to Gaston, who stuck it in the goal to take a 4-0 lead.

Allie McGrath scored an unassisted goal to bring the score to 5-0 and Elizabeth Keil, with an assist by Sarah Scanzoni, scored to make it 6-0.

Asheville had 20 shots on goal to the Blues one.
