–ACA girls finish in fourth in United Way XC Invite

NEWTON- October 10, 2007 - The ACA Lady Lions, the only private school among 30 schools in the event, roared their way to a fourth place finish in the United Way XC Invite, held in Newton, NC on Wednesday.  They amassed 160 points between their top five runners.  Lake Norman won the event with a score of 46.  Mooresville (108) came in second and East Lincoln (148) was third.

Five of the schools that ran in the event did not bring at least five runners, so they did not receive any scores.  They were Freedom, Hibriten, North Lincoln, East Rowen, Patton, and East Rutherford.

The top 5 for ACA were Whitney Thornburg (8th)-20:42, Mandi Struble (21st)-21:43, Sarah Blake (32nd)-22:36, Natalie Newbury (45th)-23:00, and Kelly Barnett (54th)-23:15.  Anna Beth Hagen (88th)-24:19, was the only other Lady Lion to run in the meet

Morgan Turner from Lincolnton was first (19:29), Lake Norman’s Von Epren (19:41) was second, Kyle Clark (20:08) from Hickory was third, Terra Jackson (20:09) from Freedom was fourth and Amber Bowles (20:10) from East Lincoln was fifth.
