–Asheville School girls win Franklin X-Country Invite

FRANKLIN - October 4, 2007 - Melanie Haas placed third for the Asheville School girls as they placed four runners in the top 10 to win their second meet of the week, the Franklin Invite, held at Enloe Farms. The Lady Blues also won the ACA invite on Tuesday. Asheville School (65) narrowly defeated the host, Franklin (77). Tuscola’s Megan McLeod (21:41) was the medalist, outpacing Christina Stout (22:01) from Hendersonville by 20 seconds.
In the team competition, Hendersonville (82) placed 3rd, Hayesville (93) was 4th, Swain (133) was 5th, ACA (179) was 6th, Smoky Mt (205) came in 7th, Pisgah (220) was 8th and Erwin was 9th. Tuscola did not have 5 runners, so they had no score.
Six of the top 10 places were won by either Asheville School or ACA.
For the Lady Blues, Haas (22:27.77) beat her teammate Jessica Goodman (22:27.97), who was 4th, by a whisker. Ashley Dickey (22:40) was 5th and Amanda Anderson (23:00) was 10th.
Both Whitney Thornburg (22:51) and Mandi Struble (22:52) from ACA came in 7th and 8th respectively. Smoky Mt’s Candence Railsback (22:45) was 6th and Brittany Williams (22:53) from Franklin was 9th to round out the top 10.
