–St Joseph’s beats Veritas in soccer

19 September 2007

FLETCHER - September 18, 2007 - St Joseph’s Academy came to Fletcher on Tuesday and went home with a victory against Veritas Academy, 3-2.  This gives Veritas a record of 0-4-3, not bad for the school who is on the right track to improve their program. Josh Stone was hired as the Soccer coach after a successful stint at ACA and it will take time for the 7-year old school to get the program going.

David Shaw scored the only two goals for Veritas, one in the 15th minute and the other in the 72nd minute.  He was assisted on the first goal by Brigg McDaniels and on the second goal by Jake Voit.

Veritas held a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Four goals were scored in the second half, all within 15 minutes of each other

Tim Bailey scored two goals for St Joseph’s, both of them unassisted, including the game winner in the 75th minute.  He had tied the game up in the 60th minute, 1-1, after Shaw’s first goal.

Conner Belton had the other goal for St Joseph in the 72nd minute, with an assist from Austin Stein.

Ben Hayes for Veritas had 8 saves off of 20 shots by St Joseph.  Veritas took 10 shots, of which 5 were saved by Danny Conley.
