–Statesville Christian scores goal in last minute, beats ACA

SWANNANOA - August 24, 2007 - Statesville Christian’s James Dawson scored his third goal of the day with less than 30 seconds left in regulation to break a 3-3 tie, giving the Lions a 4-3 victory over the ACA Lions.

Dawson’s first goal of his hat trick came in the 10th minute, but it was answered just three minutes later by ACA’s Blake Wright in the 13th minute, tying it at 1-1.

Dawson scored again in the 38th minute and then Alex Rodin scored 2 minutes later to give Statesville Christian a 3-1 lead at the break.

 

Three minutes into the third, ACA’s Thomas George blasted one in off of a pass from Stephen Carlson.  Wright got his second goal in the 59th minute to tie the game.

Things were uneventful until the 79th minute, when Dawson got his third goal the day.

ACA finished with 19 shots on goal and Statesville had 23. 

Adam Johnson had 8 saves for the Lions and Statesville’s Daniel Willis had 6.

ACA is now 2-3 on the season and Statesville is 1-0 in it’s first regular season contest. 

ACA hosts Christ School on Tuesday at 4:00.
