–Langston Wood breaks career rushing record at Cherokee

27 August 2007

CHEROKEE - August 17, 2007 - Cherokee senior running back Langston Wood broke a 37 year old record by gaining 220 yards in only nine carries to become the career rushing leader for the Braves in only his first game of his senior year.

It was record that has stood since 1970, set by Eddie Crowe Sr from 1968 through 1970.

Wood only needed 168 yards to get the record and his 220 yards gives him 3,852 total rushing yards in only his third year.

Cherokee racked up 581 yards rushing in it’s win over Andrews, 55-28.  Andrews had 267 yards on the ground against the Braves.

Both Wood and Carr Crowe had 4 touchdowns each in the game.

Andrews Matt Esposito ran eight times for 137 yards to pace the Wildcats.
